In case you haven't heard recently, former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady, 34, who last played in the NBA in 2011-12 for the Atlanta Hawks, is attempting to become a professional pitcher. He is reportedly working with Roger Clemens in his hopes to pitch this season for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League. Hey - why not? He's got $100 million and time on his hands, so what are you gonna do?
Supposedly he has been clocked in the 90's with his fastball, but more recently it sounded a little more realistic in the mid- to high-80's. This is not to say he can't make it to the 90's. Heck, just picking up a ball after not having played competitive baseball since, I will guess, his high school years and throwing in the mid- to high-80's is quite impressive and indicative of a pretty talented guy...and he just might have consistent 90+ in his reach.
